Raymond's Bar-B-Que

DALLAS: Raymond's Bar-B-Que Cafeteria
10920 Garland Rd.
Dallas, TX 75218
214-327-5800
Open M-Thur 11-8:30, F-Sat 11-9

The friendly guy behind the counter made me want to really like this place. It was the eighth joint on an 8 joint day, so I just ordered brisket. The meat was monochromatic gray with little crust. There was no smoke flavor, and I was hard pressed to even categorize it as an example of good roast beef. Not even friendly service could convince me to enjoy it.

This place has all the look and feel of at least a solidly good BBQ joint. Smoker out front, pleasant BBQ decor. It just looks like a place my Dad would take me too as a kid. Alas, EVERYTHING was meh. The sides, the meat, even the iced tea. Rumor has it that the owner used to own a chinese buffet. Enuff said. This place needs a BBQologist!

DISCLAIMER:

Each joint is judged on the essence of Texas 'cue...sliced brisket and pork ribs. Sausage is only considered if house made. Sauce is good, but good meat needs no adornment to satisfy. Each review can only be based on specific cuts of meat on that particular day. Finally, if the place fries up catfish or serves a caesar salad, then chances are they aren't paying enough attention to the pits, so we mostly steered clear.
